Five injured in Turkey earthquakes

At least five people were wounded and 90 houses were damaged after two magnitude 5-point-3 earthquakes rocked the Aegean town of Ayvacik.

The epicentres of the earthquakes were located beneath the Aegean sea, 45-kilometres south of the Dardanelles strait and shook the town of Ayvacik, wreaking havoc in surrounding villages.

Villagers left their houses and remained outdoors after their homes were damaged by the earthquakes.

The Turkish Red Crescent and Disaster Management Agency began preparations to distribute makeshift tents in case they were needed.
