Makikipag-ugnayan ang pamahalan sa mga kaalyado nitong bansa sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations o ASEAN tungkol sa gagawing hakbang matapos lumabas ang desisyon sa arbitral case ng Pilipinas laban sa China kaugnay ng mga pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea

Ngunit tiniyak ni Department of National Defense o DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na hindi magsisilbing probokasyon sa China.

“We do not want to do things that may be construed as provocation by the other party so ang guidance namin is that let us be very subdued in our reaction here and just study things that we want to do and in the proper time sabi ni presidente is we come out with our course of action..Pahayag ni Lorenzana

Kabilang sa planong kausapin ng pamahalaan ang ASEAN allies na claimant din sa ilang teritoryo sa South China Sea gaya ng Malaysia, Brunei, at Vietnam.
