Putney bridge bus-push jogger suspect arrested
A man has been arrested by police after footage emerged of a jogger appearing to push a woman into the path of a bus on Putney bridge. The 50-year-old was held at a residential address in Chelsea on Thursday morning on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Closed circuit TV footage showed the male runner jog past one man on putney bridge on may 5 before knocking into the 33-year-old victim. as she tumbled to the ground, her head and upper body fell into the path of an oncoming bus which managed to swerve out of her way.
After the woman fell into the road, the bus stopped and passengers went to help the victim who had sustained minor injuries.
On Wednesday, the met said it had received a “huge response” to its appeal for information. The assailant was later released while inquiries continue, police said.
