World’s oldest woman Emma Morano turns 117(REUTERS)

The world’s oldest living person celebrates her 117th birthday in her home in Northern Italy.

Emma Morano was born in November 1899 and has witnessed two world wars and more than 90 Italian governments.

The secret to her longevity appears to be down to her love of eggs and repetition.

Morano’s doctor says she eats two raw eggs a day and the same things every day.

Friends, neighbours and her doctor gather in her small apartment to mark the latest milestone.

But no other relatives are present at the birthday celebration as Morano has outlived her immediate family members.
