A 49-year old Canadian nurse named Elizabeth Wettlaufer was charged on Tuesday with murder after administering drugs to eight elderly patients at two long-term care facilities.
Wettlaufer was accused of killing five women and three men in caressant care in Woodstock and Meadow Park in London, Ontario between 2007 and 2014.
Woodstock Police Chief William Renton said at a news conference that there are obviously stored and available drugs in the long-term care facilities.
The chief declined to give further details and could not speculate about a motive, on the killings of the victims ranging in age from 75 to 96.but he said that investigators are confident that they have identified all victims.
Linkedin profile, in the name of Elizabeth Wettlaufer said she was a nurse who had worked at the Woodstock home from June 2007 to March 2014, administering medication was one of her responsibilities.
She appeared in court Tuesday morning to face the eight counts of first degree murder and was remanded to custody.
Police said that Elizabeth also worked in other facilities. They are still investigating if there are other victims and urging the public to come forward if they have any information.
